About
Elizabeth Burn, LMHC-D
Elisabeth Burn is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Buffalo, New York, with over a decade of experience supporting individuals, couples, and families. As a lifelong member of the Buffalo community, she is passionate about serving the people where she lives, works, and raises her family.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Canisius College in 2009 and her Master’s of Science in Community Mental Health Counseling in 2012. Since then, she has worked across community mental health settings and private practice, supporting adolescents and adults through a wide range of challenges.
Elisabeth’s clinical experience includes working with immigrant and refugee populations, particularly survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. These experiences have shaped her understanding of how systems and lived experiences impact mental health and have informed her strong advocacy for women and survivors.
She has a particular passion for supporting trauma survivors and helping clients uncover patterns, build resilience, and create more meaningful and connected lives. After experiencing a traumatic labor and delivery, along with her daughter’s time in the NICU and multiple heart surgeries, Elisabeth developed a deeper understanding of the complexities of maternal healthcare. This led her to pursue additional training and become a dedicated advocate and therapeutic support for women navigating pregnancy and postpartum challenges.
approach
Elisabeth takes a collaborative and individualized approach to therapy, tailoring each experience to the client’s goals, needs, and life story.
Her work integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and strengths-based approaches to help clients better understand patterns, develop practical tools, and create lasting change. She places a strong emphasis on building self-awareness, setting healthy boundaries, and fostering a more compassionate relationship with oneself.
Elisabeth strives to create a supportive and nonjudgmental space where clients feel understood, supported, and empowered to move forward.
